Student Positions
Andrews University provides a wide variety of student jobs on campus. Students needing a job may view the job openings online where jobs are posted daily as they become available. For additional information regarding student employment, please visit the Student menu.
To qualify for a student position, you must be taking a full class load during the normal semester. A full load is defined as 12 undergraduate credits, 8 graduate credits, 9 M.Div credits or a full load equivalency in the English Language Institute Program. The Employment Manager must approve all exceptions.
Off-campus jobs are posted on the bulletin board outside of our office. When you find a job that interests you, contact the employer at the number given on the posting.
Students accepted by a department for on-campus employment will be given a Work Permit to bring to the Employment Office. There they will complete any necessary paperwork and submit documentation that proves identity and employability. See Hiring Procedures on the Student Employment General Information page. Once all the paperwork is complete, an Employment Officer will complete the Work Permit which the student will return to the hiring supervisor.
Some on-campus positions may require the potential employee to take a battery of office skills tests. The tests include basic office skills, customer service skills and typing skills. An appointment time to take these tests can be made at the Employment Office. These tests take approximately one hour to administer and test results will be available immediately following the testing.
When a student is hired, the employer will give the new employee a rate sheet or some other form of intent to hire, which will be brought to the Employment Office enabling the new employee to be placed on the payroll system.
If you have any questions regarding the student job search process, please give us a call at (269) 471-3570 or contact us by email at employment@dos5.net.
